7th Annual Oceanside Music Festival

October is "National Art and Humanities Month" and OMFest sponsor, Oceanside Cultural Arts Foundation, is inviting the community to celebrate with music.  Throughout the month of October OMFest ’08 will be presenting a wide variety of musical performances including salsa, classical, liturgical, Broadway, and folk/country.

Also scheduled are special Sunday afternoon family performances, which will include "Peter and the Wolf", performed by Pacific Coast Concert Band, and the youth opera, "Rumplestiltskin", performed by the San Diego Opera Ensemble.  Thanks to a grant by the Oceanside Arts Commission free tickets will be offered to some lucky vocal music students.

OCAF believes in supporting local arts and artists. This year’s Oceanside Music Festival will, again, provide the opportunity for performing artists in the high schools in Oceanside, and the surrounding communities, to raise funds for their programs.  Profits from ticket sales for the High School Showcase Concert, which will feature North County award-winning show choirs and musical theatre ensembles, will be donated to the participating schools.

Tickets for this year’s festival are $10 children; $12 student, senior, and military; $15 general admission; $25 family. A special Festival Pass for six concerts: "Rumplestiltskin", High School Showcase, "Peter and the Wolf", "Luna Llena" (salsa) and an "Evening of Americana" (Country through Jazz) will be available for $50 per person until October 1.

For information e-mail Eliane Weidauer at meliane@cox.net or call the OMFest message center, (760) 433-3632.
