Oceanside has a new Art Venue!

The OPT Underground Photo Art Gallery is nestled ever so quaintly underneath Oceanside Photo & Telescope’s main store, located at 918 Mission Avenue. What was once storage space is now the centerpiece of the photography art scene in Oceanside. The gallery itself is fairly new---it’s only been open since July and it has already garnered tremendous support from Oceanside’s local community. You don’t have to be a full-on patron of the arts to come into the OPT Underground Gallery and enjoy the beautiful and stunning photographic works of featured artists Jack Iskin, Katherine Sanchez, David King, Michael Vander Vorst, Susan Coppock, Peter Nagainis, and Grant Brittain. All the artists aligned with the Underground Photo Art gallery are local San Diego residents who take part in the gallery’s co-op program.

The interior of the gallery is very reminiscent of a SOHO art loft space in New York City with its black chain-link fence walls to display the art, shiny hardwood floors, and bulky silver ventilator tubing that lines the gallery’s ceiling. The "industrial chic" atmosphere inside the gallery is refreshing to the senses, enabling its visitors a serene setting to view some of the local areas finest photographic talents in a casual and comfortable setting. The gallery hosts photo art exhibits every month. The next featured artist is David King, beginning December 2nd, followed by Jack Iskin in January and Katherine Sanchez in February.

Come visit Oceanside’s newest treasure at 918 B. or call (760) 722-3348. The OPT Underground Gallery hours are Tues-Sat 10:00 am – 6:00 pm and Sun 12:00 – 5:00 pm.
