A Phantom Gallery Update

MainStreet's Phantom Gallery has received such positive feedback on behalf of hosting the work of the Oceanside Museum of Art's Artists Alliance that it will be their pleasure to host juried work in the gallery. Some of the Alliance founders actually maintained studio space in the Phantom and the Alliance also held a co-op gallery in the rooms next door. The Phantom's patrons found it an agreeable alliance of work featured in the gallery, the open studios and the easel art of the alliance, to quote the patrons. Well it was easy to come up with a name for the show, "An Agreeable Alliance." We hope to make it an annual event. Come and see all the local talent and you'll be amazed at who lives right next door. Exhibition dates: Sept. 10 to Oct. 22.

This year's show "Dia-Rama" celebrating the festival of Dia de los Muertos will feature original regional artists of diverse mediums and plenty of surprises. Exhibition dates: Oct. 27 to Nov. 5. Ole! You'll want to mark your calendars for Sunday, October 30, and experience Oaxaca meets O'Side.

This is the year the Oceanside Museum of Art will hold its Juried Exhibition of Regional Artists, so the Phantom wanted to give those artists who don't feel ready to show on such a grand scale a chance to get a "Foot in the Door" of an Open Exhibition. At the holiday time many galleries offer a square foot of art for unique gift ideas with great success. So how better to bring it all together offer artists a chance to get their "Foot in the Door" with a foot of art. We had great fun last year and the patrons enjoyed judging the artwork, everyone enjoyed the art and we sold quite a few pieces. So a win, win for the Phantom. Entry forms are available at the office and during gallery hours; come join us. Exhibition dates: Nov. 19 to Dec. 24. The winner will be announced on Christmas Day so hurry and join us. Last year’s Public Choice was a young photographer who donated her piece to a young couple on their way to Iraq for service and she chose to share the winnings with the runners up - a painter of oils, Carrie Ventola, and local watercolorist Bonnie Ellison.

Be sure to stop by the Phantom on December 1st for a close-up look at the "2005 All Sides of Oceanside" Photo Contest Winners. A wall will be dedicated to all the winning photos. Then in January all the photographs received will be on display for viewing. Though they can't all be winners, they are all worth seeing!
