City Seeks Input to Name New Facility and Park

At its May 18, 2005, meeting the City Council designated two future projects, the second senior center at El Corazon and the park at the corner of the San Luis Rey River and College Blvd. (currently referred to as River Park), eligible for the community naming process.  The City Council adopted a facility and park naming procedure and policy in 2003.

River Park is a 29-acre public park to be located at the southwest corner of San Luis Rey River and College Blvd. which should be developed and fully operational by November 2006.  The second senior center on the El Corazon property should be completed sometime in 2007.  The proposed center will be located west of Rancho del Oro Drive and north of Oceanside Blvd.

So what would you name these two future projects?  Request a park/facility naming application from the Parks & Recreation Department by calling 435-5041.  All nominations MUST be completed and sent to the Parks & Recreation Department no later than September 30, 2005.  On October 13, 2005, the Parks & Recreation Commission will make a recommendation on the names which will then be forwarded to the City Council for consideration sometime in December 2005.

Get creative and help us name these facilities!
