Oceanside’s Senior Expo 2003 will be held Saturday, October 11, at the Civic Center Plaza from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and is being dedicated to Ed McCulloch, late chairman of the Oceanside Senior Commission and one of the city’s biggest boosters.
Music will fill the Plaza, provided by Jay Wimmer and the Big Band All-Stars. Because the day coincides with the second annual Oceanside Music Festival, guests will also be treated to the tunes of George Gershwin and Cole Porter by other local bands, including the Oceanside Society Orchestra and the El Camino High School Jazz Band.
Flu shots will be available in the Community Rooms on a first come, first served basis. Door and raffle prizes include $500 cash, a deluxe DVD/VCR player, a stay at the Oceanside Marina Suites and a one-year membership at the new Joe and Mary Mottino Family Branch YMCA. There will be 100 booths with information on senior health issues, recreation, and retirement planning. The Nutrition Program will provide snacks.
Seniors 65 and older are invited to visit the Oceanside Museum of Art free of charge!
