Expanding Residential Mixed Paper Recycling

The City of Oceanside and Waste Management of North County are pleased to announce the inclusion of mixed paper to the residential curbside recycling program.

Many have already been recycling mixed paper at one of the many drop-off bins situated around Oceanside. We have now made it more convenient. Please place your mixed paper in with your newspaper in your green recycling container.

Corrugated Cardboard when broken down into 3’ x 4’ bundles can be recycled. Place these bundles next to your green and yellow recycling containers. Corrugated cardboard not broken down properly or cardboard boxes with material left in, such as styrofoam and plastic liners, will be picked up by Waste Management’s trash drivers.

Here is a list of paper material that is considered mixed paper:

• Computer/Copy/Fax Paper
• White and Colored Paper
• Manila and Business Envelopes
• Sticky Notes/Scratch Paper
• File Folders
• Direct Mail
• Catalogs/Magazines/telephone Books
• Corrugated Cardboard (non-waxed only)
• Paperboard (i.e. shoe boxes, tissue boxes, cereal boxes; no plastic liners)
• Paper Grocery Bags

The following is a list of items NOT acceptable in the recycling program and which should be placed out with your trash:

• Food wrappers
• Disposable plates and cups
• Paper towels and facial tissues
• Waxed papers
• Plastic bags
• Trash

Please remember to sort out plastic wrapping and liners from all paper. This includes unread newspapers that are still in a plastic bag and food boxes that contain plastic liners. Thank you for recycling!
